Progressive Professor Tim Libretti, addressing the traditional response to growing inflation via the raising of interest rates in PoliticusUSA, responds to my argument defending profits made by the energy companies in oil and gas. Claiming that unemployment resulting from inflation is unfair to American workers, Professor Libretti argues that companies should be forced to absorb these costs by imposing a price gouging ban. Why not instead advocate for an end to limitless government spending that is causing most of the inflation across the board to begin with? If not for useless government programs, temporary spikes in oil and gas prices (one sector of the economy) would not be nearly as burdensome to the consumers.
My comments in International Business Times about Japan’s growing defense independence in response to China’s and North Korea’s aggression in the context of the Quad cooperation and uncertainty on US red lines - and why, despite this promising start to increased defense capabilities, Japan still has a long way to go before it is in a position to fend off major threats unassisted.
Quoted in Arshad Mehmood’s The Media Line article concerning the recent UN-backed donor conference to fundraise for post-flood recovery in Pakistan. I address how corruption and poor reputation of the country are complicating the efforts to restore donor confidence and to ensure that the aid reaches the most vulnerable.
Quoted in Andy Medici’s article in The Business Journals on the issue of whether FTC has the legal authority to ban non-compete clauses in employment contracts, and what legal challenges the new ban is likely to face. The article also addresses the general legal and employment trends - even if FTC is within its rights, is this step really necessary?
I comment in Autumn Spredemann de Calani’s article in The Epoch Times on water as a national security issue for the US and on the efforts to limit adversarial actors from monopolizing farmland and scarce natural resources, such as water, in various states.
I call it a huge win when I manage to persuade someone with a different perspective to consider additional information, nuance, angles, or points of view. This article on gas stoves and natural gas by David Goldstein in Ventura County Star addresses the recent controversy in a way that invites respectful discussion and debate on the future of energy and renewables in California and the US in general. Very glad to have contributed my comments.
I was quoted (WayBackMachine) in Phil Britt’s article in The New Stack on the subject of understanding supply chain risks, including cybersecurity, and on the measures to prevent logistical disruptions. That was before The New Stack’s editors stealth edited the article in response to the demands of an anonymous troll. Read my “Open Letter to The New Stack: Twitter Bans, Russian Trolls, & Journalistic Ethics”.

Quoted in UK’s Proactive Investors Limited on the new test of ZeroAvia’s largest-ever zero-emission plane test flight, discussing whether hydrogen electric planes are likely to be suitable for long-haul commercial usage.

My comments in Report.Az on Azerbaijan’s growing relationship with the UAE and other Arab countries.
My comments in Milli.Az about how the gold illegally mined and smuggled out of Azerbaijan by the Russian-Armenian oligarch Ruben Vartanyan’s people is likely going towards the funding of the Russian war in Ukraine.
TV and Podcasts
I appeared on the Women Who Rock with Success Media (WWRSM) Podcast with Diane Winbush to discuss the scope of the immigration crisis facing US border - the humanitarian, human rights, law enforcement, and economic impact on the US; the failure of the US government policies; cooperation (and limitations of it) with Mexico; the issues facing the Northern Triangle countries; policies related to Ukrainians, and the issues related to asylum, refugee, and green card status.
My comments on CBC TV about the latest anti-Azerbaijan resolution in the EU Parliament following a similar resolution passed in France, all in the context of Qatargate and other corruption scandals in Europe.
